Young Chamber Players concert
A Message from Zachary Lyman, SCCS's Young Chamber Players Director
Dear Friends of the Second City Chamber Series,
Chamber music is thriving in Tacoma!
We invite you to come witness the next generation of instrumental musicians at our Young Chamber Players concert on July 15 at 6:00pm in Building 2 on the campus of Tacoma Community College.
Our YCP cohort this year is a diverse group of 23 young musicians from 7th to 12th grades coming to us from Pierce County as well as the Kitsap Peninsual. They meet during the week of July 11 for intensive rehearsals with professional and student coaches, and will perform works ranging from old favorites by Haydn and Schubert to new music written during the pandemic.
This season's YCP program involves two exciting "firsts." We begin this summer at our new home at Tacoma Community College. We are so grateful for the resources and support that the TCC Music Department has shown to our program. This summer we also welcome our first-ever resident faculty string quartet! These four local professionals will be with us each day to coach the students, perform alongside them, and to model professional musicianship for our students.
Please join us to hear what these remarkable students can accomplish in only one week!
